Andreas Schwab is a Member of the European Parliament for Germany, belonging to the European People’s Party (EPP), the centre-right group, and to the Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands. Since 24 February 2026, Schwab has been Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control. Within the party structures, the roles include Vice-Chair of the CDU/CSU Group in the European Parliament since 2014, internal market spokesman for the EPP Group in the European Parliament since 2007, and Chair of the South Baden CDU since 2017. Before becoming an MEP in 2004, Schwab served in 2003–2004 as a government assistant lawyer at the Ministry for Culture, Youth and Sport, Stuttgart.
