Sander Smit is a Member of the European Parliament for Netherlands, with the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), the right-wing Eurosceptic group, and the BoerBurgerBeweging. The seat in the 10th parliamentary term (2024–2029) was taken up on 16 July 2024. From 23 July 2024 to 10 March 2026, Smit was Vice-Chair of the Committee on Fisheries. Since 18 March 2026, Smit has been a Member of the Bureau of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, having previously belonged to the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) from 16 July 2024 to 10 March 2026.
