Gheorghe Cârciu is a Member of the European Parliament for Romania, belonging to the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D), the centre-left group, and to the national party Partidul Social Democrat. The mandate began on 16 July 2024, in the 10th parliamentary term (2024–2029). Since 9 July 2025, Cârciu has been Vice-Chair of the Delegation for Northern cooperation and for relations with Switzerland and Norway and to the EU-Iceland Joint Parliamentary Committee and the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee.
