Marina Kaljurand is a Member of the European Parliament for Estonia, belonging to the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D), the centre-left group, and to the Sotsiaaldemokraatlik Erakond. Since 23 July 2024, in the 10th parliamentary term, Kaljurand has been Vice-Chair of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. In the 9th parliamentary term, Kaljurand was Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee from 26 September 2019 to 15 July 2024. Before joining the Parliament, Kaljurand was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States (2011–2014), Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia (2015–2016) and Member of the Estonian Parliament (2019).
