Hélder Sousa Silva is a Member of the European Parliament for Portugal, belonging to the European People's Party (EPP), the centre-right group, and to the Partido Social Democrata. Sousa Silva has served in the 10th parliamentary term since 16 July 2024 and has been Chair of the Delegation for relations with the Federative Republic of Brazil since 30 September 2024. Before joining the Parliament, Sousa Silva was Mayor of Mafra, Portugal, from 2013 to 2024, and Member of the Portuguese Parliament from 2011 to 2013. Earlier roles also include Vice-President of the EPP/CoR from 2021 to 2024 and Portuguese Army official from 1986 to 2001.
