About Jean-Paul GARRAUD

Jean-Paul Garraud is a Member of the European Parliament for France, sitting with Patriots for Europe (PfE), the right-wing nationalist group, and representing the Rassemblement national. Garraud has served since 16 July 2024 in the 10th parliamentary term, as Member of the Bureau of the Patriots for Europe Group, and also sat in the 9th term. Earlier in a judicial career, Garraud was Vice-President of the Paris High Court from 1997 to 2001 and Advocate-General at the Poitiers Court of Appeal from 2001 to 2002. From 2002 to 2012, Garraud was a Member of the French National Assembly. Garraud was also National Secretary (justice) of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP) party.

Sittings for which the Parliament officially excused a Member (Rule 162: illness, serious family reasons, official mission, or pregnancy and maternity leave, which the Parliament excuses for three months before and six months after a birth) are credited, not counted as absences. We credit only what the Parliament's own record shows: the “excused” list in each sitting's minutes, or leave documented in another official Parliament document. An absence the Parliament has not recorded as excused counts as an absence, even if leave has been reported in the press. Notable votes are selected based on significance, close outcomes, and high participation.

Some attendance figures carry a context note, such as maternity or parental leave, illness or an official mission. Each note cites a press or official report, with its source and date, and is reviewed by us before it appears. Context notes never change the attendance figure.
